We all have a tendency to put others first, but in doing so, we can sometimes neglect our relationship with ourselves. Let me be your advocate and show you a kinder, gentler way to treat the most important person in your life.
It was Valentine’s Day and I had traveled to Berkeley, CA to meet up with friends for dinner and a Lenny Kravitz concert. The restaurant we were meeting at was next door to a holistic shop, so I stopped in to pick up a birthday card for my friend’s husband. Browsing around the store proved fruitful since I found a deck of Angel Cards that I had been in search of for some time.
Two weeks later was my birthday and I decided to open the box of angel cards and celebrate with a 3-card reading. All I can say is, it put me into tears. I was never one to celebrate my birthday, but on that morning I realized the importance of honoring myself. Celebrating myself the way others have wanted to celebrate me my whole life. This experience forever changed my perspective on celebrating birthdays and it was time for me to embrace loving and honoring myself.
From that day forward, I made a promise that this set of angel cards would only be used for birthday readings conducted on the day of a person’s birthday. I am now a believer that we are all here for a purpose and somewhere through all the muck we need to learn to honor and love ourselves more.
